Emergency First Aid Training Provides Added Safety For Outings Kimberly Chism shows cards she and seven other FSAB volunteers qualified for after completing training in administering Basic First Aid and CPR on May 29 and 30. Ed and Lisa Keppner, Patrice and Larry Couch, Linda McCartney and Roland and Alice Guay also completed the intruction and received certiticates.
Training in the most up-to-date CPR and first aid skills was provided in two three-hour sessions by Meta Arbour of CPR For Life. The CPR Heartsaver Card is from the American Heart Association and is renewable in two years. The Basic First Aid card from the American Safety & Health Institute is renewable in three years.
The objective of this training is to develop a cadre of volunteers certified in first aid skills who can be drawn on to provide an added margin of safety at outings and tours sponsored by FSAB.
Funding for this training was made available from a $10,000 grant BEST, Inc. received from the Elizabeth Ordway Dunn Foundation in 2006. Funding is available for eight more volunteers to take the courses. Anyone interested in becoming certified in CPR and Basic First Aid can contact Alice Guay at 215-5590.
